Avnei Eitan is a settlement that was established by members of the Religious Scouts and Bnei Akiva, the southernmost settlements among the religious settlements of the Golan. The name of the settlement commemorates six of the members who had died in Israel's military campaigns and an additional member who had died from a disease.
In June 2006, the settlements absorbed a group of families from Gush Katif which plan to build their houses in the Golan. The "Gush Katif Heritage Center" is located in Avnei Eitan, presenting the touching life story of the families that were forcibly removed from their homes and their attempt to rebuild their lives.
Education – members of the settlement work in all educational institutions beginning with the kindergarten through the regional schools, yeshivas, and religious high schools for girls and ending with the unique pre-military preparatory program for boys living abroad, which is located in Avnei Eitan.
A model of community activity has been developed in Avnei Eitan, which includes as many people as possible in organizing and carrying out social activities for all members of the settlement during the year, activities which significantly contribute to the consolidation of the community and to the feeling of it being one family.
The population of Avnei Eitan is variegated and consists of people of various ages and occupations, who represent the variety of groups that form the Nationa-Religious community.
