There are 27 agricultural settlements in the Golan, which constitute an agricultural power whose products are in demand in Israel and around the world. The differences of heights, the climate, the amount of precipitation and the fertile basalt soil enable the farmers to use the natural resources for producing impressive yields and a variety of crops.
The farmers of the Golan insist on adapting agriculture to modern times and are aided by the practical research of the Shamir Institute for Research, the Northern Research and Development Institute and experimental stations. The most common crops are deciduous trees, citrus, sub-tropical orchards, vineyards and olive groves, flowers and field crops.  High-quality wines are produced from the vineyards of the Golan, wines which are sold in markets all over the world and which have won prestigious prizes in international competitions.
Additional branches of agriculture that characterize the Golan are milk dairies, cattle for meat, poultry, turkeys, honey bees and more. The farmers of the Golan grow approximately 30% of the national yield of apple, cherries, pears and mangos. The meat production of the Golan also constitutes 30% of the national production. The Golan produces approximately 95 million liter if milk in a hundred dairy barns – about 9% of the amount of milk produced in Israel.
Alongside traditional agriculture, the Golan is developing research-based innovative, high-tech agriculture as well as the field of agro-genomics for producing top-quality food and developing high-quality species and crops.
The 'Mei Golan' Association, which belongs to the agricultural settlements, operates a system of reservoirs of rainwater for watering during the summer.
